Axelon is woman-owned certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC), Supplier Clearinghouse, NYC School Construction Authority and New York State.
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to U.S. corporations. Founded in 1997, WBENC is the largest third-party certifier of U.S. businesses owned and operated by women. With programs and policies designed to expand opportunities and eliminate barriers in the marketplace for women business owners, WBENC works to foster diversity in the world of commerce.
The National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) has led the way for women business owners to obtain WBE Certification. Created in 1995, NWBOC was established to increase competition for corporate and government contracts through implementation of a national certification program for women business owners. The development of our national Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) certification program, sponsored by IBM, involved cooperation and input from over 700 public and private sector individuals.
The Supplier Clearinghouse is a commission-supervised entity whose primary purpose is to audit and verify the status of woman and minority owned businesses, and to establish and maintain a database of woman, minority, and service disabled veteran owned businesses that is accessible to the California Public Utilities Commission and to participating utilities.
The goal of the Business Development Division (BDD) is to recruit, develop and retain emerging minority-owned, woman-owned and locally based business enterprises. Entry into public sector work remains a challenge for MWLBE businesses. To reduce these barriers, BDD helps qualified MWLBE firms do business with the SCA. The Business Development Division recruits these firms via active outreach and participation in various minority trade shows, conferences and forums.
The DMWBD promotes equality of economic opportunities for minority and woman owned business enterprises and eliminates barriers to their participation in state contracts. The DMWBD supplements New York State’s economic leadership with information and resources that increase access to information and opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses throughout the State.
